Welcome

This website was developed to share the 21CTL Projects and the Partnership for 21st Century Skills that have developed a definition of 21st century skills which can be mapped to curriculum standards for science and mathematics in 6th ,7th, and 8th grades. The 21CTL projects provided hands-on experience with professional development materials designed for middle grades teachers. Activities are based on science and math education and instructional technology research and are focused on data collection and visualization. Giving a real world context to math and science integration will be done through problem solving in a data-rich environment. We will test a model of just-in-time professional development through the use of advanced web-based conferencing tools. Probeware, classroom presentation tools, software that allows visualization of data, and video tools are all part of the 21st century mix for this project. Technology partners include Vernier Software & Technology and mimio.

Middle Grades in the 21st Century: Science & Mathematics Workshop
June 22-26, 2009 at Bertie Middle School

This 5-day professional development institute will focus on discussing the use of probeware and the analysis of data using computer graphing software to support teachers in Bertie and Edenton-Chowan school districts in their efforts to infuse technology into mathematics and science teaching and to develop alignment of the NC Standard Course of Study and 21st Century Skills.
